Dix Earns 2 Silvers; FSU Now Counts 5 Bob Thomas Sep 3, 2011

Walter Dix claimed his second silver medal of the IAAF  World Championships, and in the process made it very clear that he will be a factor in the 2012 Olympic Games in London. Dix, the former Florida State star and current US champion in the 100 and 200, finished second to world record-holder Usain Bolt in the 200-meter dash Saturday in Daegu, Korea. His silver medal time of 19.70 was 1/100th of a second off his all-time best (19.69), which he ran as a Seminole in the 2007 NCAA Regional in Gainesville, Fla.

Former Tilghman Star Danielle Carruthers Strikes Silver in Daegu Sep 3, 2011

IU legend Danielle Carruthers ran a lifetime best 12.47 seconds for the silver medal in the 100m hurdles at the IAAF World Championships, becoming the first world championships medalist with IU ties since Rachelle Boone-Smith took second at the 2005 world meet. Carruthers outleaned fellow Team USA member Dawn Harper by less than .01 seconds.

Griffith trying to stay upbeat Jason Byrne Sep 1, 2011

Adrian Griffith false started in the first round of the Men’s 100 meters (m) and never got to show the world what he was capable of doing. He was so distraught that he opted not to speak to reporters afterwards. Georgetown's Andrew Bumbalough to Compete at IAAF World Championships Aug 28, 2011

36-member Team Bahamas off to IAAF Worlds Jason Byrne Aug 20, 2011

  Championships in Daegu, South Korea, set for August 27 to September 4. But Bahamas Association of Athletic Associations (BAAA) executives said they are still seeking the financial assistance to cover the estimated cost of $91,000 for their travel. Yesterday, the first part of the team - led by team manager Ralf McKinney and including athletes Trevor Barry, Adrian Griffith, Ramon Miller and Anthonique Strachan - left town for Atlanta, Georgia and then Seoul.   Michael Mathieu, Demetrius Pinder and Latoy Williams all left from Texas and will meet up with the team in Seoul. The other members of the team are scheduled to leave today from Atlanta and fly directly into Seoul.  (via www.tribune242.com)
